⏱️ 15 min · Japanese · Lunch main

Nut-freeNo reheatingVegetarianAsian staple⚠️ Contains sesame

Contains sesame as written. Sesame-free swaps:
  • Leave out the sesame seeds.
Ready-made products like sauces and crackers may still contain sesame or traces of it, so check every label.

Ingredients

New ingredient?
  • Short-grain (sushi) rice: Slightly sticky rice that holds its shape, so it's ideal for onigiri and gimbap. Calrose rice works well too. Where to buy
  • Rice vinegar: Mild, gentle vinegar for seasoning sushi rice and quick pickles. Where to buy
  • Inari pockets (seasoned fried tofu): Sweet-savoury tofu pouches sold ready to fill with rice. Where to buy

Method

  1. Season rice with vinegar and sesame.
  2. Gently open each pocket and fill with rice.
  3. Pack seam-side down.
